When I was a kid growing up in Toronto I used to dream about owning my own auto repair shop one day.
I got a part-time job at a gas station when I was a teenager, which only fueled my dream.
After I graduated high school in 1980, I moved to Los Angeles and got my first full-time job as a mechanic with European Motors in Studio City working on Mercedes Benz, BMW’s and Fiat’s.
Studio City Motors hired me away from European Motors in 1982, and promoted me to Sr. Smog & Repair Technician where I spent the next four years fine-tuning my mechanical skills.
In 1986 I was driving up Lankershim Blvd. to buy a used engine for a Volvo wagon that I had recently purchased, when I saw a “For Rent” sign that was displayed on the front of a vacant auto repair shop.
It was that fateful day back in August of 1986 that I decided to finally turn my life-long dream of owning an auto repair shop into reality.
Over the course of the past 23 years I have expanded my business from a one bay auto repair shop, into a full-service auto repair and auto body center.
The most important philosophy that I practice when it comes to my business is one that my parents taught me years ago, which is “Keep it honest!” |
